About

Hi. I'm Diego.

The short version: I'm a creative guy in his 50s with a steady job I've outgrown, and I'm building my way out of it on camera.

I've spent most of my life making things. I'm a photographer. I've done spatial design, brand identity and gallery work, and I ran a gallery of my own for a while. I'm also a licensed cosmetologist, so I can cut hair, too.

Right now I work for the post office. It's honest, steady work, and I'm grateful for it. It's also not where I want to finish. That's all I'll say about the day job here. This channel is about what I'm building, not where I clock in.

What's on my mind

I'm not young anymore, and I'm not old, either. I'm right in the middle, which is a strange place to be when the ground is moving. Prices keep climbing. Every week there's another headline about AI and jobs. People my age are hearing that the rules changed and nobody sent the memo.

I don't think the sky is falling. But I've lived long enough to know that waiting is a choice, too, and it's usually the risky one.

I'd rather build my way out on purpose than get pushed out by surprise.

What I'm doing about it

I'm building a business of my own, using what I already know: the camera, design, branding, working with people. And I'm learning to use AI as help, not as a threat. It handles the busywork so I can spend my time on the parts that need a person.

I have a plan and a date in mind for leaving. Between now and then, I'm doing the work in the mornings before my shift, on my days off and whenever I can steal an hour.

Why film it

Two reasons. First, it keeps me honest. It's easy to tell yourself you're making progress. It's harder when there's a camera and a logbook asking what you actually did this week.

Second, I know I'm not the only one. If you're in your 40s, 50s or 60s and wondering whether it's too late to start something, I want this channel to be proof, one way or the other. I'll show you what happens either way.

What you can expect

  • The truth, including the parts that don't go well.
  • Plain talk. No hype, no "secret system."
  • The actual tools and steps, so you can try them yourself.
  • A guy figuring it out in real time, not an expert pretending he already has.
